Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA)
The ABA is a national association which offers education and assistance to
breastfeeding families. You can obtain details about local breastfeeding groups.
These groups are great for support and may help you to get to know
other families in your area.

Ngala
This centre offers help with all needs of children 0-5 years. There is a
free phone service within the centre, where a child health nurse will answer
any queries you have as well as direct you to other services as needed.

Parent Information Centres
The resources offered here are brilliant! They have a vast range of current
books, videos, tapes and pamphlets on all aspects of parenting. Information
on parenting classes is also available.

King Edward Memorial Hospital -library & referral exchange
This can be accessed by anyone. The range of items to borrow is vast
and valuable.

Community Libraries
Your local library has a great stock of videos, tapes and of course books
relevant to families. Most libraries have “story-time” sessions for young
children followed by an activity which ties in with the story. This is a great
way to introduce your child to the fascination of books; it also gives
you a chance to renew your own books/videos/cd roms etc.

Meeralinga Young Children’s Foundation
This is the centre point for more than 50 West Australian agencies concerned
with the welfare of children (eg Parent for Music, LADS). They runs parents
workshops, have a bookshop and a toy and resource library.

sheets on parenting, some play idea sheets and links to community resources.

very good articles on sleep and settling babies on their web site.

Medela is a Swiss company. They make breast pumps and other medical
equipment. Their site has some useful breastfeeding and expressing information.

This New Zealand consumer health resource site has
lots of information for new parents.

The Child and Youth Health site was developed by the South Australian
government to help people with parenting and general health. It is a
fantastic site and worth a visit.

This is the Australian Breastfeeding Association site; formerly known as the
Nursing Mothers of Australia. This organisation was started by a very forward
thinking and motivated group of mothers in 1965 to assist and support Australian
mothers to breastfeed their babies. Breastfeeding rates in 1965 were the lowest
in Australian history. This group alone has helped Australia return to rates which
the rest of the world is envious of! The Association has since enabled breastfeeding
research of world significance to flourish in Australia.
